Van Williamson

The esteemed winemaker behind Witching Stick Wines, boasts a rich history in California viticulture. His journey began with studies in enology at Fresno State University, leading to pivotal roles at Ficklin Vineyards, Fetzer Vineyards, and a four-year tenure at Chateau Montelena. In 1988, Van's love for the outdoors and a passion for fishing drew him to Anderson Valley, where he contributed significantly to Greenwood Ridge Vineyards and later served as head winemaker at Edmeades Estate from 1994 to 2009. In 2010, Van and his wife Anne established Witching Stick Wines, focusing on minimal intervention winemaking to highlight the distinct terroir of select vineyards. Beyond winemaking, Van enjoys gardening and fishing, embodying a deep connection to the land that is reflected in his wines.
