Hans Schwarz

Originally a butcher by trade, ventured into winemaking in 1999 with encouragement from renowned figures like Alois Kracher and Manfred Krankl. His dedication to quality and innovation quickly garnered attention in the wine community. In 2017, his son, Michael Schwarz, took over the winery, bringing with him experience gained from working in regions such as the Saar, Mallorca, southern France, and Australia. Under Michael's leadership, Weingut Schwarz continues to uphold its commitment to producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of Schrattenberg.

Burgenland-Schrattenberg, Austria

Burgenland, Austria's easternmost state, is renowned for its diverse and vibrant wine production. Influenced by the hot, continental Pannonian climate, the region excels in producing full-bodied and rich red wines, particularly from grape varieties like BlaufrƤnkisch and Zweigelt. The presence of Lake Neusiedl plays a significant role in the microclimate, providing humidity that is essential for the development of noble rot, which in turn leads to the production of some of the world's finest sweet wines, including Beerenauslese and Trockenbeerenauslese.
