Pete and Bea Barra’s story is one of love, resilience, and dedication to winemaking. Pete, the son of an Italian immigrant farmer, and Bea, of Dutch and Mexican heritage, built their legacy at the headwaters of the Russian River in Mendocino County.

Together, they cultivated over 350 acres of certified organic vineyards, producing varietals that reflect the region’s rich terroir. To honor Bea’s grace and strength, the family introduced Mia Bea Wines, a collection of award-winning, small-lot organic wines.

Today, their daughters carry forward the Barra legacy, ensuring sustainable farming and exceptional winemaking remain at the heart of their family tradition.

Nestled in Northern California, Mendocino County is renowned for its diverse terroir and commitment to sustainable viticulture. With its dramatic coastline, rolling hills, and majestic redwoods, the region offers a picturesque backdrop for winemaking. Mendocino’s vineyards span inland valleys and coastal ridges, benefiting from the Pacific Ocean’s cooling influence, which ensures vibrant acidity and balanced ripening in the grapes.
