Tyler Russell

Founder and winemaker of Nelle Winery, embarked on his winemaking journey with a passion for Rhône varietals and a commitment to expressing the diverse terroirs of California's Central Coast. After gaining experience at notable wineries such as Justin, Zenaida, and Calcareous, Russell established Nelle to focus on small-lot productions that highlight the unique characteristics of each vineyard. His approach emphasizes minimal intervention, allowing the natural qualities of the fruit to shine through. By sourcing grapes from esteemed vineyards across Paso Robles, Edna Valley, and Santa Maria Valley, Russell crafts wines that are both nuanced and reflective of their origins.

Central Coast

The Central Coast wine region of California spans from Monterey to Santa Barbara, offering a diverse and world-renowned viticultural landscape. Its Mediterranean climate, influenced by cool Pacific Ocean breezes, creates ideal conditions for growing a wide range of grapes. The region's varied soils, from sandy loam to limestone, contribute to the distinct character of its wines. Known for exceptional Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, the Central Coast also showcases innovative blends. Sub-regions like Paso Robles, Santa Ynez Valley, and Monterey highlight unique microclimates, making the area a hub of quality and variety for wine enthusiasts.
