Sordo
Sordo Winery, also known as Azienda Agricola Sordo Giovanni, is a family-owned winery located in the heart of Barolo, Piedmont. Established in the early 1900s by Giuseppe Sordo, the winery has been passed down through generations, with Giovanni Sordo expanding the estate in the 1950s by acquiring vineyards in some of the most prestigious crus of Barolo. Today, the estate encompasses 53 hectares of vineyards spread across renowned Barolo communes such as Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d’Alba, Monforte d’Alba, Barolo, Novello, La Morra, Verduno, Grinzane Cavour, Vezza d’Alba, and Volpeglino. The winery is known for producing a range of Barolo wines from various crus, each reflecting the unique terroir of its origin. Sordo Winery emphasizes traditional winemaking techniques, including extended aging in large Slovenian oak casks, to produce wines of depth and complexity. The estate also produces a selection of white wines from native and international grape varieties, as well as Barolo Chinato and grappa .
