Rusack Vineyards
Rusack Vineyards is a boutique winery dedicated to crafting world-class, handcrafted wines that embody the unique terroir of California's Central Coast. Established in 1995 by husband and wife team Geoff and Alison Wrigley Rusack, the 48-acre estate features 17 meticulously cultivated acres of vineyards. The primary focus is on Syrah, a varietal that has brought international acclaim to Ballard Canyon, comprising approximately half of the estate's plantings. Additionally, the vineyard nurtures smaller blocks of Sauvignon Blanc, Zinfandel, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, contributing to their renowned Bordeaux-style blend, "Anacapa." In 2003, the estate underwent a comprehensive replanting to harness the true character of Ballard Canyon, employing sustainable farming practices and state-of-the-art irrigation systems to ensure optimal vine health and fruit quality. Beyond their estate, Rusack collaborates with select growers in esteemed appellations like Sta. Rita Hills and Santa Maria Valley, sourcing premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes from iconic vineyards such as Bien Nacido and Solomon Hills. A distinctive endeavor of Rusack Vineyards is their vineyard on Santa Catalina Island, planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and historic Zinfandel vines originating from cuttings on Santa Cruz Island. This project reflects the Rusacks' commitment to innovation and honoring California's rich viticultural history. Visitors to the winery can enjoy the recently renovated "Canyon Terrace," offering an inviting space to experience their exceptional wines amidst the serene beauty of Ballard Canyon.
