RH Coutier Champagne House Banner

R.H. Coutier is a distinguished Champagne house situated in the grand cru village of Ambonnay, within the Montagne de Reims subregion of Champagne, France. The Coutier family's viticultural heritage in Ambonnay dates back to 1619, with the estate currently managed by fifth-generation vigneron Antoine Coutier.

The family's vineyards span approximately nine hectares, comprising around 40 distinct plots exclusively within Ambonnay. Notably, in 1948, Antoine's grandfather became the first vigneron in the village to plant Chardonnay—a bold move at the time—resulting in the estate's vineyards now being planted with one-third Chardonnay and two-thirds Pinot Noir.

The vineyards benefit from south and southeast exposures, creating a warmer microclimate that, combined with the region's clay and chalky limestone soils, imparts both richness and freshness to the wines. The Coutiers have practiced organic farming for years, avoiding herbicides and focusing on organic fertilizers. In 2019, they began the process of organic conversion, with full certification anticipated in 2023.

The Champagne house of R.H. Coutier is renowned for its exceptional offerings, providing a captivating introduction to the allure of grand cru Champagne from the heart of the Montagne de Reims.
