Quinta de la Rosa
Quinta de la Rosa is a family-owned estate nestled in the heart of Portugal's Douro Valley, renowned for its production of premium wines and ports. Established in 1906 as a christening gift for Claire Feueheerd, the property has remained under the stewardship of her descendants, the Bergqvist family, who have been involved in the port trade since 1815. The estate spans approximately 55 hectares of vineyards terraced along the banks of the Douro River near PinhĆ£o, benefiting from schistous soils and a unique microclimate ideal for viticulture. Quinta de la Rosa was among the pioneers in the early 1990s to produce high-quality table wines using indigenous grape varieties traditionally reserved for port production. The estate combines traditional winemaking methods, such as foot treading in granite lagares, with modern techniques to craft wines that authentically express the Douro terroir. Beyond winemaking, Quinta de la Rosa offers enotourism experiences, including guided tours, tastings, accommodations, and dining at their on-site restaurant, Cozinha da Clara, which showcases regional cuisine paired with their wines. ā
