Optik Wines is a collaborative venture between the Miller Family's renowned vineyards—Bien Nacido, Solomon Hills, and French Camp—and acclaimed winemaker Joey Tensley. This partnership aims to present a fresh perspective on these esteemed terroirs, resulting in limited-release wines that embody both the unique characteristics of the vineyards and Tensley's distinctive winemaking style.
Vineyards and Wines
Optik sources its grapes from three distinguished vineyards:
Bien Nacido Vineyard: Located in the Santa Maria Valley, this vineyard is celebrated for its cool-climate varietals, particularly Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah.
Solomon Hills Vineyard: Also situated in the Santa Maria Valley, Solomon Hills is known for producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, benefiting from its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, which imparts a distinct minerality to the wines.
French Camp Vineyard: Nestled in the Paso Robles Highlands District, French Camp boasts one of the highest elevations in the region. The vineyard experiences significant diurnal temperature shifts, leading to grapes with intense flavors and vibrant acidity. It cultivates 25 different varietals, offering a broad palette for winemaking.
The resulting wines from Optik include selections such as Petite Sirah and Valdiguié from French Camp Vineyard, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Bien Nacido Vineyard, and Pinot Noir from Solomon Hills Vineyard. Each wine is crafted to convey both the essence of its vineyard and Tensley's signature style.
