Nelson Hill Winery

A boutique winery located in the Anderson Valley of Northern California, renowned for producing high-quality Pinot Noir wines. This region is characterized by a unique microclimate ideal for cultivating Pinot Noir grapes, with warm summer days ranging from 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit and cool nights between 50 to 55 degrees, influenced by moist air from the nearby Pacific Ocean.

The vineyard is planted on a south-facing slope with a traditional 5×8 pattern—five feet between vines and eight feet between rows—ensuring optimal sun exposure and drainage. The soil, a rocky loam, further contributes to the vineyard's suitability for Pinot Noir cultivation. Nelson Hill Winery employs a selection of French Dijon clones (114, 115, and 777) and a small percentage of the Pommard clone, each contributing distinct characteristics to their wines. 

Their winemaking philosophy focuses on producing Pinot Noir in the Burgundian tradition, emphasizing elegance, finesse, and the delicate, subtle qualities that define this varietal. They offer limited releases of their wines, including vintages such as the 2012, 2013, and 2014 Anderson Valley Deep End Vineyard Pinot Noir, each noted for unique tasting profiles and high ratings.
