Merriam Vineyards

Merriam Vineyards is a family-owned winery nestled in the Eastern Hills of Sonoma County's Russian River Valley. Established in 2000 by Peter and Diana Merriam, the estate spans 21 acres and is dedicated to producing Bordeaux and Burgundian varietals. The Merriams' journey into winemaking began during their honeymoon in France, where they developed a deep appreciation for French wines. This passion led them to acquire the Windacre Vineyard, a site with viticultural roots dating back to the 1890s. The vineyard's unique terroir, characterized by its location on an ancient glacial riverbed, mirrors the soil composition of France's Bordeaux region, making it ideal for cultivating Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Over the years, Merriam Vineyards has expanded its offerings to include Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc, benefiting from the diverse microclimates of their estate. The winery emphasizes sustainable and organic farming practices, achieving CCOF certification for their Los Amigos vineyard in 2012 and the winery itself in 2023. Visitors to Merriam Vineyards can experience warm hospitality in a setting reminiscent of a New England farmhouse, reflecting the family's East Coast heritage.
