Lawer Estates is a family-owned, limited-production winery renowned for its sustainably grown, terroir-driven wines. Over a decade ago, founders David and Betsy Lawer discovered and acquired a distinctive vineyard in Calistoga, California, captivated by its unique characteristics and microclimates. This vineyard, nestled in the Knights Valley, serves as the foundation for their exceptional, small-batch wines crafted with utmost care and precision. The estate's vineyards boast ideal terroir and microclimates, fostering a diverse range of varietals, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, Viognier, and Petite Sirah. Coastal breezes traverse the valley, imparting a distinctive character to the wines. Additionally, a subterranean volcanic reservoir provides essential hydration, ensuring vine vitality even during droughts. Sustainability is at the core of Lawer Estates' philosophy. Their vineyards are certified sustainable, reflecting a commitment to environmental stewardship and excellence in grape growing and winemaking. The Lawer family, alongside an experienced team of vineyard managers, viticulturists, and winemakers, meticulously manages and maintains the vineyards, with all grapes handpicked at harvest. The winery's label design pays homage to the Lawers' banking heritage, reminiscent of finely inscribed bonds or stock certificates, artfully merging their banking and winemaking worlds. The landscape etching on the label showcases one of their favorite vineyard views, symbolizing their deep connection to the land.
