La Vigna di San Martino ad Argiano

Celebration of 60 harvests, inside La Vigna Tasting Room

La Vigna di San Martino ad Argiano is a boutique winery located in the north-western part of the Chianti Classico zone, specifically in Argiano, within the commune of San Casciano Val di Pesa. This small-scale operation is the passion project of oenologist Giampaolo Chiettini, who has dedicated his career to producing high-quality wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. The vineyard spans approximately one hectare and is cultivated using organic methods. The soil composition is a mixture of clay loam, stone fragments, and sand, similar to the soils found in Berardenga, but benefiting from a cooler climate that contributes to the fragrance and structure of the wines. The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 250 meters and is planted with a density of 5,000 vines per hectare, utilizing the Guyot training system. Fermentation is carried out with wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks, and the wine undergoes aging in used barriques for 18 months. The wines are unfiltered and unfined, ensuring that they retain their natural characteristics.
