J. Wilkes Wines was established in 2001 by Jefferson H. Wilkes, who had previously spent nearly two decades marketing and selling grapes from the renowned Bien Nacido Vineyards in California's Santa Maria Valley. His deep understanding of the Central Coast's unique terroirs led him to create a label that showcased the region's distinctive appellations. Tragically, Jeff passed away in 2010, and to honor his legacy, the Miller Family Wine Company acquired the J. Wilkes brand, continuing his mission of producing exceptional wines that highlight the Central Coast's sub-AVAs.

Wine Pairing at J. Wilkes Tasting Room
Today, J. Wilkes Wines offers a diverse portfolio that includes varietals such as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery emphasizes "appellation expression," crafting wines that reflect the unique characteristics of specific sub-appellations like the Santa Maria Valley and Paso Robles Highlands District.
The winemaking team is led by Jonathan Nagy, who joined the Miller Family Wine Company in 2020. With extensive experience in the Santa Maria Valley, Jonathan focuses on creating wines that embody the essence of their appellations, ensuring each bottle offers a true sense of place.
