Domaine Florian Le Capitaine

Vouvray of Domaine Florian Le Capitaine

Domaine Florian Le Capitaine is a distinguished winery situated in Rochecorbon, within the renowned Vouvray appellation of France's Loire Valley. Established by Florian Le Capitaine, a passionate second-generation winemaker, the estate spans six hectares of certified organic vineyards. Florian's commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture ensures that no herbicides or insecticides are used, preserving the natural integrity of the terroir. The vineyards are predominantly planted on clay-limestone soils, locally known as "tuffeau," which impart a distinctive minerality to the wines. Florian employs meticulous vineyard management techniques, including mechanical soil maintenance using ploughs and intercep blade tools, to promote vine health and soil vitality. In the cellar, he adopts a minimalist intervention approach, fermenting wines in neutral oak barrels without the addition of sulfur during vinification. This method allows for the expression of pure fruit flavors and authentic terroir characteristics. The wines are then aged for 4-5 months on fine lees, enhancing their texture and complexity. Domaine Florian Le Capitaine is celebrated for producing Vouvray wines that are both rich and complex, reflecting the unique qualities of the Loire Valley. ā€‹
