Clouds Rest Vineyards stands as a testament to the pursuit of exceptional winemaking. Established in 1999 by vintner John Saemann, the estate spans a modest 1.75 acres at an elevation of 1,250 feet, just above the fog line. This unique positioning offers a microclimate characterized by cool maritime breezes and volcanic soils, creating an ideal terroir for cultivating Pinot Noir grapes. Nestled atop Sonoma Mountain in the Petaluma Gap region of Sonoma County, California. Clouds Rest is renowned for its meticulous attention to detail, from hand-picking ancient volcanic rocks to prepare the vineyard, to adopting a high-density planting strategy of 3x3 feet. This approach ensures low yields but results in grapes of unparalleled quality. Under the guidance of esteemed winemaker Anthony Austin, a UC Davis graduate who studied under the legendary André Tchelistcheff, the winery produces limited quantities of single-vineyard, single-varietal wines. Their flagship offering, the estate-grown Pinot Noir, has garnered acclaim for its elegance, complexity, and balance, often drawing comparisons to the finest Grand Crus of Burgundy.​ Beyond Pinot Noir, Clouds Rest's portfolio includes the Allure Reserve Chardonnay, Forbidden Sauvignon Blanc, and ÉGOÏSTE Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Each wine reflects the winery's commitment to expressing the distinct characteristics of its terroir.
