Casa Ermelinda Freitas is a distinguished family-owned winery located in the heart of the Palmela region, Portugal. Established in 1920 by Deonilde Freitas, the winery has flourished under the guidance of four generations of women, each contributing to its rich legacy. The estate spans approximately 550 hectares, with vineyards predominantly situated in the fertile lands of Fernando Pó, a sub-region renowned for its viticultural excellence. The winery cultivates a diverse array of grape varieties, including the indigenous Castelão—locally known as "Periquita"—which thrives in the region's sandy soils. Other notable red varieties include Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira, Syrah, Aragonês, Alicante Bouschet, Touriga Franca, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. White varieties such as Fernão Pires, Chardonnay, Arinto, Verdelho, Sauvignon Blanc, and Moscatel de Setúbal are also integral to their portfolio.
