Cambiata Winery, established in 2002 by proprietor and winemaker Eric Laumann, stands out in California's wine landscape for its unconventional approach and dedication to crafting distinctive wines. After nearly two decades of producing wines for other establishments—including Hacienda Wine Cellars, Zaca Mesa Winery, Kendall-Jackson, Bronco, Bonny Doon, and Edna Valley Vineyard—Laumann embarked on a personal journey to explore beyond traditional varietals.Inspired by Richard Graff, founder of Chalone Vineyard, Laumann's vision for Cambiata was to delve into lesser-known grape varieties, thereby enriching California's wine offerings. The winery produces limited quantities of unique wines such as Albariño, Tannat, and Dornfelder, alongside select Pinot Noir and Chardonnay sourced from the cool climates of Monterey County's Santa Lucia Highlands. With an annual production under 1,500 cases, Cambiata emphasizes quality and individuality, appealing to adventurous wine enthusiasts seeking novel experiences.
