2016 Lobo Wines Cabernet Sauvignon, Wulff Vyds, Atlas Peak, Napa Vly
Lobo WinesTasting Notes: The inviting nose is filled with succulent dark berry fruit redolent of cassis, blueberry, and boysenberry. Along with still youthful fruit, there are accents of cedar, damp forest floor, and black tea leaves with flecks of graphite minerality. The palate is lively with a welcoming flash of vanillin that leads into rich berry coulis that exhibits bright acidity through fine, polished tannins that are nearly resolved. The flavors are dark blueberry, boysenberry, mulberry, and cassis with some black cherry and underlying earth in the form of sweet tobacco, black tea, cardamom biscuit, with very slight suggestions of star anise. A savory suggestion of black truffle is just beginning to emerge toward the finish. It lingers on the palate while balancing acidity washes clean any remaining grippy tannin leaving only luscious dark fruits.
