Schmidt Family Vineyards

Schmidt Family Vineyards is a family-operated winery located in the Applegate Valley of Southern Oregon. Established in 2000 by Cal and Judy Schmidt, the vineyard began with the purchase of the historic Bennett Ranch on the fertile Kubli Bench. Cal, who grew up on a wheat farm in Kansas, nurtured a passion for viticulture and winemaking, leading him to plant the first 15 acres of estate vineyards in 2001, featuring varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Over the years, the vineyard expanded to include 20 different varietals across 45 planted acres, producing well over 6,000 cases annually. The estate boasts picturesque gardens, a large pond, and multiple walking paths, creating a welcoming environment for visitors. The tasting room is designed in a craftsman style, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere. Visitors can enjoy a variety of wines alongside a menu that features wood-fired pizzas and other light fare. The expansive grounds, including herb and flower gardens, provide a serene backdrop for wine tasting and events. The winery is open Tuesday through Saturday, with extended hours on Fridays to accommodate live music events.
