Sass Winery, nestled in the South Salem Hills of Oregon's renowned Willamette Valley, is dedicated to crafting wines that authentically express the unique terroir of the region. Established in 1996 by winemaker Jerry Sass, the winery emphasizes natural and non-invasive winemaking techniques. The estate's Wild Winds Vineyard, located at the winery, features east and southeast-facing slopes with volcanic soil, producing bright, high-toned Pinot Noir. Additionally, Sass sources grapes from select vineyards, notably Walnut Ridge Vineyard, which contributes Pinot Noir with deep, dark-fruit notes and hints of spice from its sedimentary soils. This diversity allows Sass Winery to produce a range of elegant and complex wines, including Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rosé of Gamay Noir. The winery's commitment to sustainability is evident in its dry-farming practices and membership in the Dry Roots Coalition, reflecting a philosophy that respects and celebrates each vineyard's rich ecosystem.
