A Message from The California Wine Club

We are excited to introduce Gerri-Lynn Becker, Member Experience Officer, at The California Wine Club. Gerri-Lynn’s journey in the world of wine began in a small fishing town off the coast of British Columbia, where she was introduced to winemaking by her Italian neighbors.

This early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for wine and its intricacies. As she delved deeper into the art of winemaking, Gerri-Lynn honed her skills and knowledge, eventually becoming a respected figure in the industry.

“The aroma of fermenting wine is as much a sense of home as salty ocean air and Evergreens,” she fondly recalls.

During her college years, Gerri-Lynn worked at luxury resorts and fine-dining restaurants, where she developed a deep and enduring appreciation for wine. Her passion for wine only grew when, in her mid-20s, she moved from Vancouver to Mexico. There, a close friend, a retired wine representative from Southern California, shared his collection of fine Pinot Noir from Sonoma County, Paso Robles Syrahs, and Napa Valley Cabernets with her, further enriching her palate.

Eventually, Gerri-Lynn’s career in a boutique marketing firm took her from Baja to San Diego. During this time, she was always on the lookout for budget-friendly wines that matched the luxury, collectable wines. Her search for affordable yet quality wines became a personal mission.

Love and marriage brought Gerri-Lynn to Ventura, California, where she was introduced to The California Wine Club. “It was the fall of 2000, I was job hunting, looking to continue my marketing career and stumbled upon the club. I took a temporary job in sales, and the rest is history,” she says with a grin.

Over the years, Gerri-Lynn has worn many hats at The California Wine Club, from customer service and sales to marketing and operations. She has played a crucial role in building the club alongside its founders, Bruce and Pam Boring. In late 2023, The California Wine Club joined forces with two other legacy clubs, Gold Medal Wine Club and Wine of the Month Club. Today, Gold Medal Wine Group proudly bridges legacy wine clubs with today’s consumer, continuing a tradition of excellence.
